The Christmas holiday season has begun with the annual opening of Kiwanis Christmas House on Beaver Creek Rd. 49 families will benefit this year through the generosity of this community. Also, the Angel Tree is up in the Beaver Creek Adult Center if you'd like to stop by on a week day morning and select your Angel.
On Sunday evening the beautiful Hanging of the Greens is scheduled at Beaver Creek Baptist Church. The following Tuesday is the uplifting Blue Christmas service at Montezuma Chapel.
A week from Saturday, the 12th, is the monthly drive thru food bank at Beaver Creek School. This is open to everyone and there is plenty of food available.
Detailed information and other meetings and events are below.
Scheduled for Early December
Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 12/3,4,5 & 12/10,11,12--The Kiwanis Christmas House is located again this year in the former Barefoot’s Market, 3315 E Beaver Creek Rd and open from 10 AM to 5 PM. Christmas gifts and food will be purchased for 49 families with 138 children from your donations for the merchandise. Also, more Christmas items are needed to sell. These contributions may be made at the Kiwanis Clothes Closet during their open hours: Tues, Wed, Thurs, Sat from 10 to 3:00 PM or at the Christmas House. Thank you to the community for their support for this effort and a special thank you to Steve Allgrove for again loaning the use of his building!
Sunday, 12/6—The Hanging of the Greens starts at ? PM at Beaver Creek Baptist Church. Many of us look forward to this beautiful annual event. Please call 928-567-4557 for the start time.
Monday, 12/7—Merry Movie Mondays start at 7 PM in the Beaver Creek Adult Center and will continue every Monday evening. Please call 928-567-4556 on weekday mornings to get the scheduled movie title.
Tuesday, 12/8--You are invited to attend Blue Christmas, a service of remembrance and encouragement at 7 PM in Montezuma Chapel. While most people find the holidays filled with joy and cheer, we understand that for many the activities of the season seem hollow considering losses recent or past. This is especially true for those of us going through our first Christmas without a loved one. The Blue Christmas is designed to give an opportunity to enter the hope of Christmas just as you are. It is a quiet and contemplative service of word and music in which we hope you will find comfort and encouragement during these darkest nights of the year.
Thursday, 12/10—FREE English as Second Language Classes start at 6:30 PM every Thursday at Beaver Creek Baptist Church. Start any time. Contact Elaine at 928-239-0344 or Dolores (Spanish) at 928-592-9356.
Saturday, 12/12--FREE Food Boxes are available at Beaver Creek School from 7:45 to 9 AM. Food is always available the second Saturday of each month for distribution to anyone. Again, this month food boxes will be loaded in your vehicle when driven by the cafetorium at the front of the school. You are welcome to pick up for others.
